Our subconscious minds are like huge memory banks, permanently storing everything we have experienced. The function of our subconscious mind is to store and retrieve data. This can be in form of experiences, memories, what you observed as a child and even behavior of those around you. This is why our behaviors are governed by what is stored in our subconscious mind. Whether you chose to be the one who gives commands or follows them is all about how effectively you master to control what has been stored in your subconscious.
Highly successful people have learned the art of mastering their subconscious and they chose to be more efficient. The difference between success and failure lies between focusing on your success and being distracted by failures.
“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.” – Earl Nightingale
The starting point of training your subconscious mind for massive success is overcoming your previous programming and eliminating any mental blockages. These mental blockages are a cause of stress; they make you only look at your previous failures. You must relieve stress, and decide right away that you are going to be successful. Your aim should be that those around you start seeing you as a role model.
There are several techniques that highly successful people use to train their subconscious mind. We are stating some of the most effective ones.
First: Engage in Positive Self-Talk
One of the biggest barriers to your success is actually the barrier that you have created in your mind. You must start telling yourself everyday that you will be successful. This is the first method used for subconscious reprogramming. When you hear positive affirmations, you will gradually start to believe in them. I remember asking an entrepreneur about how got where he was today? His reply to me was “You have to believe in your success like you believe in God i.e. have blind faith in your success”.
Repeat these positive affirmations to yourself every day. Start by doing this first thing in the morning. Off course definition of success can be different for everyone so set your own affirmations, the ones that take you close to your goal every day. You can start by saying something like “I am very efficient at time management”, “I am very goal oriented”, “I want to be a positive role model for all my coworkers”, “I concentrate easily on my goals”. Repeat these in your head on your commute to your work; repeat them whenever you get the time and once more before going to bed.
You might feel a little silly saying these to yourself at first, but after constant repetitions, the positive affirmations start to influence your to reflect in your external behavior. Once this happens and your conscious mind is taking decisions based on the positive things you tell yourself every day, that means you have started to unleash the power of your subconscious mind,
Second: Visualization
Often at job interviews you are asked the question “where do you see yourself in five years from now?” your answer reflects much more than you think. Yes, because where and how you see yourself now is where you will be one day. Visualization is the second technique use to train the subconscious mind. You must begin to see yourself as one of the successful people. Think of a time where you achieved a goal, or reached a milestone. Replay that picture in your mind and think how efficiently you performed. Do you remember the adrenaline rush which made you stay up all night to meet a deadline? Athletes, formula one drivers and even fighters often do “mental rehearsals”. They practice their moves in their mind before they actually dive into action. The more you mentally rehearse something swifter are your actions.
So what does this have to do with training your subconscious mind and success? Here is how this technique works. Take out some time every day, sit or preferably lie down in a relaxed position. Now close your eyes and breathe and relax. First try to clear your mind by taking a few deep breaths. Now visualize yourself in a meeting, giving a presentation or closing a major deal. Imagine everything is perfect, your every word is spot on, your confidence is high and everyone in the room is looking at you with admiration. You should do this ideally before going to bed, and imagine giving your best the following day. As you make this a habit you will be amazed at how things start to happen exactly as you visualized them.
In trying to be more successful at what you do continuously rehearsing this mental practice will have a positive effect on your every day efficiency. You will find yourself more confident, your self esteem will get a boost and once you start to believe in your success more and more, there will be nothing keeping you from getting there.
Third: Act the Part
Fake it until you make it! This third technique to training your subconscious mind is all about you will start to act differently. Everyday imagine you are a very successful person who is at the top of his game. This will influence the way you dress, the way you interact with people, the way you solve problems and even the vocabulary you use.
As you start acting more successful you will see that you have more confidence to solve problems. You will no longer be just a team player, you will no longer be afraid to voice your opinion and become a leader. The basic difference between influencers and those who simply follow the commands is their confidence. People who are at top know the authority they have and the importance of their opinions. They just didn’t get there by sheer luck; it was their behavior and actions which got them there.
So whatever it is that you visualize yourself doing, do it in real life with confidence. Just imagine you are part of a play where you play this confident go-getter and become one in your real life too.
Fourth: Change Your Point of Reference
Whom do you idolize? Who is your ultimate benchmark of success? Who is the most successful person you know? Think of that person and pattern yourself after them. The fourth technique I am discussing in this article is referred as “modeling” or benchmarking against the best!
Think of the person whom you admire as being highly successful. This person should be your standard or representation. Think what would they do in a similar situation and handle the problem just like they would.
You will see many of the successful people saying that so and so have been my idol or role model. These people reached where they are today by modeling themselves as someone highly successful in the early days of their careers. Read their biographies, learn about their early lives and struggles, and get to know what is it that makes them who they are today. This does not mean you become a copycat, but look for the positive qualities and adopt them which make this person respectable and admired by many today.
If you practice these techniques to success you will soon see changes in yourself. The subconscious mind may sometime take a little longer to reprogram but with these effective techniques practiced diligently, you can you can train you subconscious mind for anything you want.
